FatCow Website Hosting Review (

FatCow Website Hosting ReviewFatCow hosting has been around since 1998 and was later on acquired by Endurance International Group and it became an integral part of the group. When compared to other hosting companies, they have taken quite a different approach. As they state on their website, they saw too much tech babble and wanted to create simple and easy to use hosting plans for personal and small business users. They wish to simplify the task of starting a website and they are friendly towards new users who aren’t that experienced with website hosting. They offer two hosting packages only, and you are able to purchase upgrades for additional price.

FatCow offers the Original FatCow web-hosting plan and the MiniMoo plan. Just recently, they also began to offer VPS and dedicated hosting to their power users. The MiniMoo plan is the cheapest solution, costing $5 a year. It’s aimed towards those who are just starting their business, and it can be easily upgraded to the full Fat Cow once the need arises. The Original FatCow plan costs $49 a year and features unlimited disk space, bandwidth and POP mailboxes as well as a free domain name, website builder, shopping cart and script barn. The original FatCow plan features shared hosting only. You can choose between three VPS hosting plans: the Basic plan features 1GB of RAM, 40 GB of storage and 1Tb of bandwidth and costs $24.99 a month. The Business plan features 4GB of RAM, 90GB of storage and 3TB of bandwidth and costs $59.99 a month. The Optimum plan will get you 8GB of RAM, 120 GB of storage and 4TB of bandwidth for $99.99 a month. If your business has grown a bit larger, you can choose a dedicated server. You have three options available: the startup will bring you 4GB of RAM, 500GB of storage and 5TB of bandwidth for $149.99 a month. The startup option is good for a growing business that wishes to secure their growth over time. The Professional option is a good choice for established businesses. It features 8GB of RAM, 1TB of storage and 10TB of bandwidth for $189.99 a month. The Enterprise option is best suited for thriving businesses with traffic of high volume. You will get 16GB of RAM, 1TB of storage and 15TB of bandwidth for $239.99 a month. No matter which option you choose, be it shared, VPN or dedicated server, you get 20% off your first term. You can choose between various terms – the three year term is cheapest, but you are able to purchase shorter terms as well.

The FatCow datacenters are located in Boston. They are equipped with 24/7 security, they run on N+1 power and are identical: they have the same equipment and network architecture. The servers run on wind energy and FatCow takes great value in being eco-friendly. They have no uptime guarantees, but according to measurements, their uptime is around 99.7%.

FatCow uses cPanel, the industry standard nowadays. If you are new to web hosting, it will take some time to get used to it. They offer some help on their website; you can check the cPanel overview and read about every segment of it. If you are unsure about anything, you can contact their customer support for some help.

The customer support is available round the clock. You can reach the support via their support number, live chat or via the support console. Most users are quite satisfied with their customer support and say that they are quick, reliable and solve the issues that may arise in no time. Their website also features a knowledge base and tutorials and user guides.

FatCow offers money back guarantee: you can cancel within the first 30 days. If you choose to keep your domain name, you will have to pay a $15 fee which isn’t refundable, so keep that in mind. The guarantee is valid for credit card payments only.

Overall, FatCow is a solid hosting provider for individuals and smaller businesses. Their prices are quite reasonable and most users agree that their offer is good. The issues arise from the fact that you aren’t able to choose more demanding hosting solutions and you are forced to purchase extra tools and services; the price quickly becomes much higher that way. Not so long ago, they started to offer VPN and dedicated server hosting as well, but they aren’t quite there yet; if you are searching for a dedicated server or VPN hosting, you will be able to find better deals. FatCow still remains very highly ranked for individuals and small business owners who wish to quickly set up their website.
